Sargam is a 1979 Hindi movie produced by N. N. Sippy. Writer and Director is K Vishwanath. Film is a remake of his earlier Telugu hit Siri Siri Muvva (1976), which starred Jayaprada and made her a star in South India. She made her Hindi film debut with this film, repeating her role of a mute dancer.The film stars Rishi Kapoor as her partner, Shashikala as her stepmother, Keshto Mukherjee, Shreeram Lagoo as her father, Shakti Kapoor, Aruna Irani, Asrani as her dance teacher, and Vijay Arora.
Hema is beautiful & alluring. There is an exciting intoxication in her walk and at the sound of the music of her anklets, trees begin to swing and sway, Leaves flutter, flowers open their budsand and dance to the sounds of anklet. The gay season of summer too joins in the merry parrade. The countryside sings a melody of love. Hema hears it all. Hears it, but she doesn’t talk. Round and about the lush-green valleys and dales, selling joy happiness and dreams, always keeping within close proximity of Hema.
